Late dinner – is it really so bad?
Any woman ever since childhood has firmly grasped the truth: you can not eat anything after 6 PM! Otherwise, farewell figure, hello rolls at the waist and sides. And we all strive to look perfect, day after day struggling with excess weight and monitoring the waist circumference. We try to adhere rigorously to the rule of not eating after six in the evening, completely forgetting about the harm that we can cause with such a restriction.
LIFE HAS CHANGED!
Such regime could be suitable for our mothers and grandmothers, who mostly worked until 5 o’clock, then calmly cooked dinner and ate it, managing to fit in before 6 PM. In addition, most women (and men, too) went to bed pretty early about 20-30 years ago.
We chew on sandwiches, apples and cereals throughout the day, dreaming of having a leisurely dinner in front of the TV, yet we often deprive ourselves of this pleasure of our own volition. After all, after six (remember?) – no way!..
We go to bed half-starved, or body gets serious stress and thinks that the famine is coming. During our next meal (no matter whether it’s breakfast or lunch), our intelligent body, programmed to make provisions for hunger, carefully puts off most of the fat that safely settles on our waist and other unsuitable places.
RULES OF SAFE DINNERS
In fact, as scientists found out in 10 years of experiments, late dinner is not so dangerous for our health and beauty, as is commonly thought. To begin with, it is simply mandatory, especially for those who snack on the go all day and have the opportunity to eat quietly only in the evening.
To make sure that the extra kilograms and centimeters do not “stick” to your beautiful figure, try to observe 6 rules.
RULE NO.1: CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS
Many people are sincerely convinced that if we have dinner later than 6 in the evening, then it should be a cold dish only, and not a hot dish. In reality, the temperature of the dinner does not play a decisive role. Much more important is the set of products that you include in your late dinner.
The stomach will be delighted, the body will calm down (hunger does not threaten, everything is all right!), the food will be digested as expected. Such food is much more useful than, for example, a cold sandwich with butter and ham.
Many of us try to save for dinner something especially tasty and favorite in hopes of getting a “reward” for a long working day. Often, these delicacies are:
It is clear that such a high-calorie dinner instantly transforms into excess weight! Leave beer and ice cream for the weekend, and hold your desires in the evening at bay.
RULE NO. 2: DO NOT ABUSE FRUIT
It is generally accepted that you can eat as much fruit as you like at night, since they allegedly do not contribute to weight gain. Oh yes, they do! Most fruits contain a large amount of fructose, which is very similar to sugar in its effect over the body. Better have fruits throughout the day:
- in the morning,
- in the afternoon,
- after lunch.
Do not forget about the action that the eaten fruits produce over the intestines – it swells, it is full of gases, peristalsis is broken. All this will not let you sleep peacefully.
RULE NO. 3: WE COOK PASTA
Do not faint from indignation: pasta, contrary to popular belief, will not cause any harm to your waist, if you choose durum-wheat variety. The second secret of the “correct” pasta is a suitable sauce. Of course, filled with mayonnaise, sour cream or cream sauce, spaghetti will become very high in calories. While as you can cover them with any quantity of the harmless tomato sauce.
RULE NO. 4: WE CONTROL OURSELVES THROUGHOUT THE DAY
If you plan on having a hearty dinner, try not to overdo with food for breakfast and lunch. Better avoid usual snacks, leaving a “place” for dinner. Try not to cross the border of the allowed calories – their total daily amount should not be “off scale”.
Are you planning to eat half the daily rate for dinner? Well then, make sure that the share of breakfast and lunch does not exceed the second half. If you do not forget about this rule, it is quite possible to have the main meal in the evening, and not in the afternoon.
RULE NO. 5: DINNER NO LATER THAN 3 HOURS BEFORE BEDTIME
If you go to bed at 11-12 pm, it’s clear that your dinner will not take place at 6 PM, but much later. However, you should not have is at 10 o’clock either. If you eat three hours before bedtime:
RULE NO. 6: NOT ALL SALADS ARE SUITABLE FOR DINNER!
It is generally believed that a salad will not make you gain any weight. This is not quite right: not every salad is made the same! If your salad is dressed with mayonnaise or sour cream, you’re your plate contains such “joys”, as sausage, green peas, meat and so on, then get ready to buy clothes of large sizes.
Thus, you will save yourself from any worries about your body shape and have a truly satiating and delicious meal.
If you take the selection of products carefully and seriously, even a late dinner will only benefit you.
